Biography

Nigel was only 10 when he discovered that he could talk and keep his mouth shut at the same time! It was ace ventriloquist Keith Harris with his famous duck ‘Orville’ that was his first show business inspiration, After that Nigel spent countless hours in front of a mirror perfecting his skills. At the age of 12 he got his first big break when he appeared with ‘Michael the Monkey,’ (one of his first creations) on BBC TV’s Saturday Superstore’s Search for a Star presented by Mike Read and Sarah Greene.

Nigel presented this character until he was 13 when he created Sox the Dog, Ben came along a year later and they both appear with him to the present day. Nigel is also an accomplished actor, when he left school he took a B/tech National Diploma in Theatre Arts, A level Theatre Studies and A level Art in Theatre design. In 1989 he appeared at the Royal National Theatre on the ‘Olivier’ Stage in ‘Arbeit Macht Frei’-which means Work Makes Free.

This was a piece devised from documentaries and factual evidence from survivors of the holocaust (one of Nigel's rare serious moments.) He was also part of a National tour of Godspell playing John the Baptist and Judas. He then joined The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain playing Baloo the Bear in the Jungle Book.
